societe Excellent sensitivity & Repeatability

To maximize sensitivity of the ATP analysis, robust equipment is required. In addition to superior accuracy and precision through its reagents and methods, LuminUltraT supplies its customers with highly sensitive Luminometers based on photomultiplier tube and photon counting technologies.

With LuminUltra reagents such an instrument provides a linear range for ATP concentration vs. RLU (instrument display = Relative Light Units) from greater than 100 ng/mL to less than 0.01 ng per mL. For most fouling problems in industrial waters, a capability of measurement (not just detection) of 0.1 ng per mL is sufficient.

Using the recommended equipment, reagents, and procedures, LuminUltra has observed that even operators with minimal micropipetting experience can achieve reproducible results when testing ATP standards. For most industrial waters, Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) values of 10 % on replicate tests are typically observed. However, for some samples in which many of the organisms are in clumps, RSD values on replicate tests may rise to 20%. A higher RSD is typical in these analyses because of the difficulty in obtaining reproducible subsamples from samples that are not homogeneous. These types of errors are further amplified when using instrumentation and devices that yield RSD values of 10 to 20 % simply for controlled ATP standards.

By using LuminUltra established protocols and reagents, errors in analytical precision are minimized and data interpretation is easier. In addition, the rapid feedback of ATP analyses allows samples to be re-processed on-the-spot if questionable results are obtained. Other biological tests cannot perform this qualification because results are not obtained for hours or days after test initiation.
