ATP monitoring is very simple to implement. Aside from an application-specific test kit, you will need:

1. Fixed- or Adjustable-volume Micropipettors;
2. Test tube racks;
3. A Luminometer

A Luminometer is an instrument that measures light, and is similar in function to a Spectrophotometer. However, a Luminometer is specialized in that it does not have an installed light source - the test tube that is inserted into the Luminometer is the source!

Luminometers are used for a variety of chemiluminesence reactions, including the firefly Luciferase assay.
